Parenthood and Birthing - with a Human Design Lens

The headlines news over the past weekend in Singapore, aside from the Iran, Israel, US escalated war, was the news of the total fertility rate hitting an all-time low of 0.87 in Singapore, and having a member of parliament who was herself - a single, high-acheiving woman in her 60's head the taskforce to help reset the views of Singaporeans on marriage and parenthood issues.
Of course, low fertility rates is not unique to Singapore, it is now a global phenomenon and especially so, in high-density, fast-paced global cities.
Motherhood has not come easily for the 1/3 Emotional Manifestor in me. Speak to all of my closest friends and family who have heard me talk about family and kinship, they know, even though i am a Mum of 2 boys myself now, i rarely encourage pro-kids centric family dynamics, unless one feels thoroughly ready for it, from the physical, emotional, financial perspective.
However, my elder one is now 6 years old, and my younger at 1. I truly feel like i have a lot to share on this entire broad topic. But first, i want to share it from the Human Design lens. And perhaps, after looking at your bodygraph, or your spouse, or your "tribes", your support group, you have a stronger sense and determination on your choice - of whether marriage and parenthood, is indeed for you.
So, yes, as all Manifestors already know, yes-motherhood or no-motherhood, we tend to gravitate towards the energy levels of I AM A-L-W-A-Y-S A-L-W-A-Y-SSSS SSSSOOOOOO T-I-R-E-E-D-DD! And add-on the dynamics of handling mum duties, one would seriously question why with such pathetically low energy levels, Manifestors are even allowed to be mothers in the first place.
When it comes to the question of how to choose, do we really agree with marriage as a social contract, is he or she the right one?
The basics of Human Design says we follow our Inner Authority, When we follow our Strategy according to our Energy Types, and operate with our Inner Authority, we get to make aligned decisions and enjoy the benefits of our Signature, the one most significant alignment indicator. A summary of the 5 Energy Types in Human Design as follows:

- Sacral : The Gut response, an immediate yes "uh-huh" or an immediate no "uh-nuh"to whatever presents itself to you. Very fast and strong physical reaction.
- Emotional : There is "no truth in the now." The emotional authority works in waves. These individuals must ride their emotional wave (the highs and lows) before reaching a point of clarity. Where they feel neutral, is the best point for decision-making.
Not Self : Frustration
Signature : Satisfaction
Manifesting Generators (The Multi-Taskers)
Strategy : To Respond, Then Inform

- Splenic : A quiet, "whisper" of intuition that only happens once. It is rooted in survival and instantaneous health/safety checks. Because it happens fast, and only once, if you "miss it" or "try to reason" with it, it's gone.
- Ego: It’s about the heart's desire and the willpower to follow through on a bargain, exchange. It usually asks : "What do I want? What is in it for me?" And when you follow through, that is usually the right decision.

Projectors (The Guides, Leaders of the Future)
Strategy : To Wait for the Invitation

- Self-Projected Authority : These individuals need to "talk it out" to hear their decisions as they speak. Their clarity and truth is revealed through their own voice in a monologue. It sits in the G center.
- Mental Authority: Like the G-Center, they need to use others as "sounding boards" to hear their own thoughts (their Ajna center), but the focus is on the vibe of the environment. If the environment feels off, it will affect the decision.

Reflectors (The Mirrors of what's Before Them)
Strategy : To Wait a Lunar Cycle (28 days)

Lunar : Reflectors have no defined centers at all, meaning they are completely open to the energy around them. They are meant to sample environments and people. They should never make big decisions in the heat of the moment. Instead, they must wait for a full 28-day lunar cycle to gain clarity and ensure the decision is not just a reflection of someone else's energy.
Not Self : Disappointment
Signature : Surprise
So, as we can see, some of the Authority are unique to certain Energy Types, and this is because of the way the centers are activated based on your Energy Type. If you are unsure of your Energy Type, please make sure to run the free bodygraph available on my site.
Ok, but today, this piece is not about Energy Types. It is also about Human Design Circuitry. All the 64 gates in the Bodygraph forms 3 distinct Energy Circuits - The Individual (The "I"), The Tribal (The "We") and The Collective (The "Everybody"). I love, love, love how the Energy Circuits make complete sense (i am so grateful to whatever hit Ra Uru Hu to come out with the whole concept of HD!) And of course, my teacher, Katie Irvine from Sort Of Spiritual who helped me understand Human Design Circuitry so much better.
Honestly, the "I" and the "We" energies are so often at tug-of-war. How many times, do we attempt to fight the relationships around us when this energy is at play. And of course, also how many times, unknowingly, do we fall into the traps of "condition-ing"? Particularly wrapped in our "logical" minds, allowing our usual thoughts from the Ajna and Head Centers to take over our Authority when it comes to making major life decisions. Understanding my circuitry and taking a while to grasp the embodiment of its energies has enabled me to feel much more comfortable in BEING ME whilst navigating the boundaries of where my relationships and my duties as a daughter, wife and mother lies.

Now, given this summary, it is easy to see that only 4 gates out of the 64 gates in the entire bodygraph is available as reproducing, lineage-creating energy! Furthermore, the probability of having either one of the 4 gates or just 2, let alone having a fully formed defense circuit is extremely rare. Indeed, the odds of parenthood and birthing is low. Is that why humanity, come to view our children as precious gifts in life?
And all in all, even with all of Tribal gates activation, that is just 14 gates out of 64, a 22% chance of all of us having the full drive to pushing towards the direction of building a community, or a base amongst ourselves. The low number does not mean that "the force" is weak though.
Tribal energy is an incredible strength. The energy to preserve and continue the tribe is so primal yet, prevalent in the daily fabric of our lives. In its raw form, it is sacral and generated energy involved in love, war, sex, intimacy, business and ambition. Think of this energy associated with "Support" or the saying that "it takes a village". Ultimately, this energy is the agreement within a tribe to commit to a shared responsibility, of taking care of the old and the young, or those who need to be cared for. It bargains the values, the social agreements and contracts for the fierce protection of one’s kin through material resource management (time, food, energy and finances). It is not interested in global patterns; it cares about survival of the tribe - it would even go to war, so that there's enough "wood for the fire" in order for the tribe to be cared for and fed.
Of course, it does not mean that without these gate activations, parenthood will not happen for you or you should not choose parenthood! No! Because, there will be transits, there will be partners, spouses, mates who will activate these gates and/or channels for you. Also, undefined energy does not mean no energy, in fact, the same energy may be amplified from others surrounding you. Yes, your environment has a very strong impact on you. You gain energy from your environment. But that is another topic for another day, when we go into the left and right facing arrows on the top of the bodygraph.
Behind the topic of marriage and parenthood, there are also examples of people who are suffering heartbreaks from miscarriages, repeated attempts to conceive, people overcoming physical pain and constraints in their journey to parenthood. It might be my simple innocent motivation to want to share HD, so that there is less uncertainty and greater clarity when it comes to navigating the tougher decisions in life which has a long-term impact on your life's journey. Also, i hope there is less reliance on blind, unethical fortune-telling or fengshui masters who naysays. And, even more jarring and scary at the moment, the reliance on Artificial Intelligence for this information. Seemingly, on the surface, AI is giving reasonable sound insights, it is however, highly accurate so far in its astrology, human design and Chinese metaphysics calculations.
With so much nuances, within these spiritual tools. Having this site, is simply just another way i wish to protect my tribe - sharing of true information and knowledge with depth.
Also, please remember tribal energy is also applicable to business and entrepreneurial energies. We do not have to apply it narrowly to just immediate kinship and parenthood.

Oh, and i looked at Singapore's birthchart too, as a nation, yes, it has zero gates activation in the Defense Circuit. But hey! Real check! Singaporeans are still producing! The numbers don't lie. p.s. exactly the part to remember, undefined energy does not mean no energy.
At the end of the day, it is our free-will, and there will only be blessings on our paths, when we truly accept co-creation with Nature or Universe or "source" surrendering to Divine Timing and Flow.
